Tashichhodzong

Dzong means fort-monastery.

Tashichhodzong means Fortress of the Glorious Religion. It is the seat of the Government housing the main Secretariat building, the throne room of His Majesty, the King and various government offices. It also houses the central monastic body and the summer residence of Chief Abbot, Je-Khempo.

The annual Thimphu Tsechu (festival), is held in this fortress.

The impressive Tashichhodzong. We were
not allowed to visit the interior of the buildings.

If one wants to visit the dzong
wearing the traditional costume, it has
to be in complete ‘set’, including the robe.

A pleasant walk amidst the
greenery before reaching the entrance.

Main entrance to the building

The buildings and the fine details expressing
and reflecting the rich and striking architectural
features of the country (above and below few).
